Three stars for PK. Very delicious. Very smooth with little, if any bite. I only gave it a slightly lower rating bc I'm not sure a lot of people would like this. Had a light vinegar note on top. Nicotine and body are mild, but the taste is medium/strong. Again, I cannot imagine an english lover not liking this C&D english. This cake is Very smooth. The latter of which adds a nice nutty sweetness to the blend. It's pretty impressive. The crumble kake really helps the flavor profile and to keep the moisture higher so it doesn't dry out. If you enjoy Latakia (and I do), you'll love it. PK: Highly recommended. It does smoke cool with no bite. It is obviously dark from the 75% Latakia, but the lighter Burley, and the Turkish can be seen well mixed in. I had forgotten how nice that first blast of latakia is when it's lit. I think Craig Tarler must have been some kind of wizard to pull this off. I suppose that there are people out there for whom there can never be too much Latakia or Perique or Basma, or whatever other condiment we can name. Some say its unidimensional. Cornell & Diehl - Pipes and Cigars While everyone is entitled to their opinion, these guys write it like it's etched in stone. For me, this is my favorite Lat. This is probably the best or 2nd best I've had. Another aspect that makes it great is the fact that when you pack a bowl, it does not have the tendenciy to spring back up. I am not sure how I heard about Cornell & Diehl but I do remember that at the time they only sold in pound bulk. I'm really starting to like C&D crumble cakes. It is top notch Cyprian leaf with solid Burley and Virginia's. Be aware of not have any other EM in your rotation bc this is the kind of tobacco thats affect your taste for ages, after a few bowls of PK you cannot feel any latakia in other mixtures. Its like setting a pine forest on fire inside your mouth. A Latakia lovers stand by for me. You had better have a liking for Latakia with both of these blends, more so with PK that gives an almost oily taste. Captain James Earle first took to sea . Very ascertive, and smoky. Country Squire Radio - PODash No bite at all, stays lit very well and slow burning. It seemed perfect to smoke but I left it out for a half hour and could smell the smokiness across my den. One dimensional taste. Anyway, I've been happy as a clam with this one and can't recommend it enough to English lovers. For this reason in my personal system rating (from 1 to 10) my score is 3 and only a star. Tobacco is all about unique taste experiences, and the worst part of eating leather is swallowing it, which is remarkably mitigated in smoke form. Not all that much one can say about a 70% Latakia blend, but the real coolness of this is in the presentation. I had smoked samples from friends and a small tin of this in the past but waited to review until I could get a pound to start on just to see consistency from tin to bulk. Yes, it is for the latakia affectionato but there is so much else going on in this one. A Latakia lover's treasure. I even caught some orange notes amid the smoky coolness. Not just the tongue tingle that spicy orientals give but a solid oriental leaf flavor under the latakia. Absolutely luscious! Breaking off pieces of this luscious, indulgent cake, rubbing it out and preparing it in the pipe is half the fun. Thick and creamy with a bit if a sweet perfume-esque flavor to it. It still made my tongue slightly numb, but then so does a shot of Mezcal, and I don't avoid that spirit. I had it in a plastic bag that was inside a bail jar. The Cavendish doesn't moderate this blend at all, and the Turkish is AWOL.
